Level 2 Technical Diploma in Early Years

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed for learners who may have just missed the entry criteria for the 2 year T level in Education or Health. This foundation year will equip you with all of the essential skills to continue your studies and achieve your desired T-level.

You may retake either GCSE Maths or English Language alongside this course, although you must have achieved a grade 3 at school.

This course is an exciting opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills and re-take 1 GCSE. This will prepare you for the following 2 years of your T-level.

In-order to continue onto your desired T-level you must achieve high grades on your BTEC level 2, have excellent reports from your placement, outstanding attendance in both college and placement and a positive reference from your teachers/tutor.

1.      Policy and practice for working Early years settings

2.      Child development 0-5 years

3.      Developing professional practice skills for work in Early years settings

4.      Supporting children’s physical care needs in Early Years settings

5.      Supporting children’s learning through play

6.      Supporting children’s communication, literacy and language development

7.      Developing professional practice in Early years settings

You will undertake a minimum of 280 hours of Vocational placement working within an early years team, gaining confidence and developing essential skills to start your career upon completing your T-level.

Upon successfully completing this Foundation year you will continue with either the T-level in Education or Health.

Range of assessment methods including: coursework, exams, group work, presentations and practical tasks

A whole range of academic and fun enrichment will be planned during your years at college. Recent enrichment include: Disney land Paris, Chester Zoo, Alton towers, cinema, Cathedral, Buddhist centre, Jewish Museum, guest speakers and outstanding placements.
