Course Description

We are in a digital age where IT is everywhere! You will develop your knowledge of systems, management and website development which will further you in the IT sector.

A qualification in IT is an excellent way to improve your employability and this course allows you to develop key skills in information systems, communication and the varying pathways for future employment. The department is home to a fully-equipped networking room allowing you to gain first hand experience using, storing and operating servers.

Modules on this course allow you to demonstrate how to use听IT systems to be an efficient communicator, how to project plan and how to use social media in听a business context. You will also look at听data modelling and how to develop websites for a range of purposes.

This course is a well-rounded qualification听that sits nicely with other subjects, appealing to employers and universities.

Learners will study these units:

鈥 Unit 1: Information Technology Systems (synoptic)

鈥 Unit 2: Creating Systems to Manage Information

鈥 Unit 3: Using Social Media in Business.

鈥 Unit 6: Website Development.

You will develop specific technical skills in the use of Microsoft Access, optimise content, format and features of social media and make connections between the application of technologies, procedures, outcomes and solutions to resolve IT problems.

The IT, software and computer services sub-sector is the largest creative industries sub-sector. It makes up approximately 1million (43.2 per cent) of the sectors鈥 filled jobs. From 2019 to 2022, in percentage terms, employment in the IT, software and computer services sub-sector increased by 33.5 per cent, the largest increase of any creative sub-sector.
